What is VRML?

VRML, short for Virtual Reality Modeling Language, is an open, platform-independent file format for 3-D graphics on the Web. It is a graphical system that creates views of 3-dimensional images that change as the viewer's angle and position changes and light sources change. It can be used to create an environment or 3-D world that appears realistic as you "move" through it. These 3-D worlds can contain objects that link to documents, other objects, or other 3-D worlds. It is widely used for games and for educational applications.
